Urban Youth Academy on FOX News in Philadelpha
Yesterday, the Urban Youth Academy was visited by a Claudia Gomez from myFox 29 in Philadelphia. She was gleaming information regarding the proposed Urban Youth Academy in Philadelphia. Ms. Gomez interviewed several people from the Academy including Kenny Landreaux and Darrell Miller. It was an exciting day and we are very appreciative of Claudia Gomez for taking the time to visit our academy.

Baseball/Softball Clinic was a good time had by all!
Baseball may be drawing to a close in the Major Leagues, but at the Urban Youth Academy, it’s the time to start teaching the youth the great game of baseball.
This past Saturday, we had our Baseball/Softball clinic at the Academy for kids ages 7-15. With over sixty kids on hand for professional instruction, we can confidently call the day a success.
To change up the blog a little, I’ve posted a flickr slideshow with some pictures to show off the day. I hope everyone had a great time and can’t wait for more baseball!

Hall of Famer Dave Winfield visits the Urban Youth Academy
When was the last time you met a Major League Baseball Hall of Famer?
Well pardner, that’s just too long. Today, while the young men of the
2008 RBI World Series competed for the chance to play in the
championship game at Angel Stadium, Hall-of-Famer Dave Winfield visited
the Urban Youth Academy. He met with players to offer words of advice
and encouragement. The chance for these young men to meet such an
influential figure has the potential to pay huge dividends as they get
the opportunity to learn from one of game’s best. Enjoy the
pictures.
2008 RBI World Series – Baseball Playoffs
It’s playoff time! The 2008 RBI World Series officially began the
playoff portion of the tournament today. All teams participating in
the RBI World Series were seeded by their record from the round robin
portion of the tournament Here are some pictures from some of the
games played at the Urban Youth Academy.
As these young men compete against the teams from around the nation, the hope of playing the championship game at Angel Stadium is palpable. Players run faster, throw harder and give that last ounce of hustle needed to come out on top. Should be exciting to watch!
