Academy Barons 6-16-09

The Academy Barons kicked off a three-game homestand against the visiting Santa Maria Packers on Tuesday night at the Urban Youth Academy. The Barons smashed the ball on offense, using a five-run third and fifth inning to cruise to an easy victory. The Barons went on to win 13-4 improving their record to 3-4. The Academy Barons will face off against the Packers tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. and on Thursday at 5 p.m at the Urban Youth Academy.

Major Academy Barons Announcements!

The Academy Barons are in full swing and we have a
lot of announcements to make. The Academy Barons are the Urban Youth Academy Collegiate team.

       
The Barons are hosting the 1st
Annual Academy Barons Youth Baseball Clinic
on Saturday June 13th, 2009 from
1pm-3pm
.  There has been a time
change so please make sure to arrive at the Academy at 12:30pm to register.  No Pre-registration required.  

       
The clinic is free to all participants.

       
Selected participants will get a have a chance to take the
field with the Barons on Saturday night to get a baseball autographed.  A raffle will be held to determine
participants. 

       
There will also be a great autograph session with members of
the Academy Barons shortly after the baseball clinic. 

A
reminder, boys and girls are welcome to participate!

 

On Saturday
night, the Academy Barons are hosting the San
Luis Obispo Rattlers at 7pm.

Al Downing, who pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers for seven
seasons before retiring in 1977, will throw the ceremonial first pitch.

Admission is free to all
Barons’ games, which feature in-game fan activities and raffle prizes given
away during the game.

 

On Sunday, the
Academy Barons are hosting the San
Luis Obispo Rattlers at 1pm & 4pm.

Join us for Hall of
Famer Frank Robinson Day! Mr. Robinson will be on hand to throw out the 1st
pitch.

Admission is free to all
Barons’ games, which feature in-game fan activities and raffle prizes given
away during the game.

Academy Barons Home-Opener 6-9-09

The Academy Barons kicked off their season Tuesday night when they faced visiting Conejo Oaks at the Urban Youth Academy. The Barons got off to an early lead and held on to it as they defeated Conejo Oaks 4-3. With effective pitching and clutch hitting, the Barons improved to 1-0 for the season. The Barons will continue their three-game series against Conejo Oaks tonight at 7 p.m. and Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Urban Youth Academy.

Barons Season starts tomorrow! Special Announcement!

The Academy Barons Start tomorrow and we have a special announcement.

We are giving away free hats to the first 100 kids age 13 and under. 

Gates open at 5:30pm.

Game starts at 7pm.

Get here early for the best seats, free hats, and a great game!

The Barons are Back!

The Academy Barons are back for their 2nd Season
and want you to join in on the fun!

As the Southwest Future All-Stars Series winds down (going into the 7th inning of the Championship Game) the Academy Barons have been warming up to take the field in their second season.

This year will feature some fresh faces as well as soon returning veterans.  Coach Hinshaw and GM Mike Frierson have done their homework to put what we hope is the best team in the California Collegiate League on the field. 

To add to the excitement, the Barons will be hosting some new events this year, highlighting the community and bringing the excitement of summer baseball back to the Academy.

In the next few days we will be making a lot of announcements about future game day events, but for right now we will focus on Opening Day.

Opening Day
Tuesday, June 9th, 2009 at 7pm

The Academy Barons will host the Conejo Oaks at the Show Field of the Urban Youth Academy. 

We will also be honoring Compton Little League, after they just completed their first season in almost ten years.

The first 100 kids in attendance will receive a free raffle tickets to enter into the special prize raffles.

Also, show up early to get a chance to be an honorary Bat Boy and Bat Girl.

There will be in game activities and on the field contests.

As you can see, we have a lot of fun planned for the Barons’ season and all of this is just the beginning. 

Gates open at 5:30pm.  DON’T BE LATE!
