This is just a reminder that ALL Dodgers RBI games for today have been cancelled.

Due to a shortage in available pitching we will be cancelling all FIVE RBI games scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12th, 2015.
The cancellation of the games was done with players safety in mind.
The RBI All Star Games are still scheduled for Thursday August 13.
The Junior All Star Game is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. while the Senior All Star Game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
All MLB UYA members and RBI players are invited to come and watch the games.
Additionally, I would like to personally invite you to the End of the RBI Season Celebration this Saturday August 15.
Below is the schedule of events:
9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – Players ages 5 to 8 – Baseball Skills Competition
12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. – Players ages 9 to 10 – RBI Minors Division Home Run Derby
2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. – Players ages 11 to 12 – RBI Majors Division Home Run Derby
These events are open to all MLB UYA members.
If you wish to participate please make sure to bring the appropriate gear on Saturday.

The Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy softball program is forming an 18U travel ball team. We are hosting an open tryout on Sunday, August 16 at 12 p.m. at the Urban Youth Academy Softball Field. The tryouts will be held for girls between the ages of 14 and 18. If you are interested in trying out please confirm by emailing Bryana.Simpson@mlb.com The season begins in September and runs through the beginning of December. The team will participate in 3 tournaments, play in friendlies, and practice at the Urban Youth Academy. Team play will resume in June for the Dodgers RBI summer league at the Urban Youth Academy. The players will then have the opportunity to try out for the Dodgers RBI Regional team with the goal of advancing and winning the RBI Softball World Series.
The team will be coached by Academy Staff Members, Marisa Trevino, Bree Simpson, Eliza Crawford, and Lorenzo Gray.
Marisa Trevino has coached at the collegiate level for six years at Mt. San Antonio College (2008, 2009 State Champions), Santiago Canyon College (2010, 2011), and Fullerton College (2012, 2013), respectfully. Trevino also has ten years of experience as a softball instructor at Baseball Softball World. She has earned a Master of Science in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University (2010) and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology from Arizona State University (2007). While playing at ASU, she played third base and made two NCAA World Series appearances under Head Coach Clint Myers. She now serves as the Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy Softball Coordinator of Instruction.
Bryana Simpson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Sports Science with emphases in Teaching and Coaching from Concordia University in Irvine, CA. The center fielder was a member of the 2012 Concordia team that broke the NCAA and NAIA winning streak record (44). She helped Concordia win their first NAIA National Championship in 2013. Simpson ended her career with a batting average of .333 (149×447) with 22 home runs, 93 RBI, and 37 stolen bases in 235 games. She received All-GSAC honors in 2012 and the Golden Glove Award in 2010. Simpson specializes in outfield, base running, and bunting instruction.
Eliza Crawford received her Bachelors of Science Degree from Cal State Fullerton in Human Services in 2015. Crawford concluded her career in Fullerton’s top 15 all-time ranks for on base percentage, slugging percentage and home runs. She is one of only three Titans in the program history to post a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in a single season, 2014. Crawford earn All-Big West Conference Honorable Mention (2014) and All-Big West Conference Second Team honoree. Crawford specializes in hitting and fielding instruction.
Lorenzo Gray is a former Major Leaguer with the Chicago White Sox, primarily as an infielder. He has been coaching (for the ten years) at the Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy and has worked with both baseball and softball.

The MLB Urban Youth Academy’s PONY Palomino (Ages 15 to 19) team has advanced to play in tonight’s 2015 PONY Palomino World Series Championship game against the PONY Palomino West Zone Champions from northern California, South Bay Legacy.
The UYA team, 2013 & 2014 PONY Palomino World Series Champions, is looking to win its third title in a row.
Please come out and show your support for Coach Bishop, Coach Landreaux, Coach Gray and the Academy team!!!
Game time is 7:00 p.m. on the Showcase Field.
Admission is FREE!!!

The MLB Urban Youth Academy is looking for baseball players (Ages 13 to Age 15) interested in having an opportunity to be selected to play in a “Friendship” series against elite international competition.

The Academy is pleased to announce the return of Vision to Learn!
Vision to Learn, a partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) since 2013, is providing a mobile eye clinic for children (Ages 5 to 18) with an opportunity to receive free eye exams and free eye glasses. Thanks to our partnership with LADF, coordinators of Dodgers RBI, Academy members and RBI participants are able to benefit from Vision to Learn.
The preliminary screening date will be held on Tuesday, August 11th between 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the Academy pavilion.
The Academy requires that anyone interested in being screened must RSVP to Danielle.email@example.com. The Academy will only pre-screen up to 100 participants.

***Please be mindful that if your child is in need of glasses, they will need to return to the Academy on THURSDAY, AUGUST 13th between 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (time subject to change).
Players will take home a “Mobile Vision Services Consent and Release Form” to be filled out by a parent or guardian in order to be seen by an Optometrist and Optician.
