Dear Academy Members and Friends,

Check out this photo of Academy members Dominic Smith (left) and J.P. Crawford (right) posing with Hall of Famer Frank Robinson (center) at yesterday’s MLB First-Year Player Draft. Smith, a left-handed pitcher and outfielder, was the 11th overall pick by the New York Mets. Crawford, a left-handed hitting shortstop, was the 16th overall selection by the Philadelphia Phillies. We are very proud of you both and wish you the very best. Congratulations guys!

The Barons beat the Sound 10-2 in last night’s contest in Bakersfield.

Jordan Hinshaw- 4 hits
William Ouelette – 2 hits
Chris Ferret- 2 Hits
Trent Zaks – 2 hits
Kevin Grove – Triple
Mark Silva- 1 hit
Elliot and Julian Barzilli – 1 hit each

Pitching highlights:
David Haerle, Jared Robinson, Matt Fitzgerald, and Ryan Ponder all combined to pitch nine strong innings.

The Barons face the Sound in a doubleheader today in hopes of taking the series. Let’s go Barons!
