Membership Information Update

Dear Academy Members and Friends,

If it has been over a year since you have registered with the Academy, please stop by the front office to check if your membership information is up to date. Please do this between Tuesdays and Thursdays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. or on the weekends from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Also, please remember that all Academy members are required to sign in at the Academy front office before heading out to the field or batting cages.

Dear Academy Members and Friends,

The ages 13 to 18 baseball workout begins at 4 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m. Catcher instruction for all ages begins at 4:30 p.m. followed by pitcher instruction for all ages at 5:30 p.m.

Softball pitcher instruction for ages 13 to 18 takes place from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the workout for ages 13 to 18 starting at 4 p.m.

Dear Academy Members and Friends,

Good morning!

Today’s baseball workout for ages seven to nine will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. followed by the ages ten to twelve workout at 5 p.m.

Today’s softball pitching instruction for ages 12 and under is from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The open workout for the same begins at 4 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m.

Today’s Workouts Cancelled Due to Rain

Due to the rain showers last night and this morning, all of today’s workouts are cancelled. Have a safe and dry Sunday!


2014 Palomino West Zone Tournament

Dear Academy Members and Friends,

As you may know, the Academy is hosting the 2014 Palomino West Zone Tournament. Everyone is welcome to watch the games. 

Children ages 12 and older and adults are charged an admission fee of $6. Ages 11 and under are free. Tournament passes can be purchased for $24.

Urban Youth Academy

As of today, San Bernadino takes on San Jose at 10:30 a.m. The OC Bolt face the Lacey Rainiers at 1:30 p.m. The 4:30 p.m. game takes place between South Bay and Arroyo Seco. The UYA team will take on So Cal for the last game of the day at 7:30 p.m.

The day’s schedule will be posted on the blog over the next few days.

No Softball Workout July 18th, Dodgers RBI Softball Tournament

Dear Academy Members and Friends,
There will be no softball workout on Friday, July 16th due to the Dodgers RBI 18U Regional Softball Tournament. Although there is no workout, the Academy staff strongly encourages you to come out and support the Academy softball members as they compete in the tournament as the Dodgers RBI team. 
All games will be played at the Academy with the first game kicking off Friday at 8:30 a.m. with the Dodgers RBI team taking on the Anaheim RBI team. Dodgers RBI then faces Hilo RBI at 4 p.m.
Dodgers RBI softball participants and the Academy coaches would greatly appreciate your support.

Urban Youth Academy Tutoring Update

Dear Academy Members and Friends,

Tutoring is now offered only to high school and college Academy members. Sessions are available solely by appointment. To schedule an appointment for a tutoring session, please call Tiara or Charles and you/your child will be connected with an experienced tutor.

California Collegiate League All-Star Game

Dear Academy Members and Friends,

The Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy will be hosting the California Collegiate League All-Star Game tomorrow night. The game will be nationally televised live on Fox Sports West, beginning at 7 p.m. PST.

The California Collegiate League is the league in which the Academy Barons participate. The game features two teams; the CCL North and the CCL South. The Barons players will participate on the CCL South team, the home team in this game. The game will showcase the top talent in the League, including our very own OF DJ Wallace, LHP Jason Broussard, and UTIL Juan Avena. As of now, Juan will be starting at first base and batting 7th in the lineup. DJ will be the secondary DH, batting 6th in the lineup. Jason will throw the top half of the 5th inning.

We hope to make this a very festive event. Feel free to invite your families and friends. Admission is $10 for adults, while youth 12 and under are free. See you there!
