Lady Tartars Softball Season Recap

Dear Friends,

We are saddened by the conclusion of the Lady Tartars season and already look forward to an exciting season in 2014!

During Head Coach Megan Martinez’s second year at the helm, Compton College Softball made a mark in the elite South Coast Conference by defeating Harbor College. A first in the school’s history and a milestone to more success.

Another first for the Tartar program, third baseman Elizabeth Morales was exposed to and then sought after by Northwestern Oklahoma State University. She has accepted an athletic scholarship and will be attending this Fall.

For the second consecutive year, two student-athletes made the All-Conference team. Elizabeth Morales was awarded Second Team honors and Katelynn Meredith was awarded Honorable Mention honors.

Most proudly, Antwoinette Baker earned the prestigous Scholar Athlete of the Year award. It is a first for the college and a huge step in student academic achievement.

Great job ladies! We are very proud of all of your hard work this season and all year around. We’ll see you next season, and until then, here at the Academy!

Compton College & Mt. SAC Play for Conference Title

Dear Friends,

Wake up and smell the dirt! It’s a great day for baseball! We invite you to go out and support the Compton Tartars as they take on the Mt. SAC Mounties today at Mt. SAC’s Mazmanian Field. This final regular season contest will begin at 2:30 p.m. and will decide who will be crowned the 2013 South Coast Conference (SCC) Champion.

The Mounties (25-10 overall, 15-5 in conference) are looking to capture their second consecutive South Coast Conference Championship, under Head Coach Stacy Parker. The Tartars (21-14 overall, 14-6 in conference), led by Head Coach Shannon Williams, have finished strong and are the only conference team to defeat the Mounties twice (12-2 and 9-2). They snapped Mt. SAC’s 13 game winning streak and are currently on a 5 game winning streak.

Best of luck to both teams!

Compton College Baseball Race

Dear Friends,

We would like to wish the Compton Tartars baseball team the best of luck in their conference showdown today against Mt. San Antonio College. The contest will be played on the Academy’s showcase field, with the first pitch set for 2:30 p.m. We encourage everyone to come out and rally Compton to victory!

The Tartars are one game behind the Mounties in the South Coast Conference standings with two games left to play. Compton took a decisive 12-2 victory over Mt. SAC in game one of its three-game set on Tuesday. Compton must win today’s battle to keep their conference title hopes alive, a feat they have yet to accomplish.

Grab your lawn chair and come make yourself comfortable for today’s scrap. Don’t forget the peanuts!
