Simpson to Concordia
San Pedro softball player Bryana Simpson will sign a national letter of intent with Concordia University, an NAIA school in Irvine, on Dec. 5 in a signing ceremony at the Urban Youth Academy in Compton.
Simpson, a speedy outfielder, also had offers from Marist and Howard University, but decided on Concordia because of the small-school Christian atmosphere and the fact it is considered an NAIA power.
“It was so close to home and I loved it,” Simpson said. “It’s a Christian school, everyone was so nice there and I felt really safe there. I liked the small community. It felt homey.”
Simpson will be the first softball player from the Urban Youth Academy to sign a college scholarship.
