Middle School Clinic April 19, 2008

We had a bunch of fun this past Saturday at our Middle School Clinic. Thank you everyone who attended and thank you to all those who volunteered to help out. Everything went really smoothly and the kids from the comments I heard had a lot of fun! (click on pictures to enlarge)

Updates and Reminders

Here are a few announcements and reminders:
 
PLEASE READ!!
 

?We are conducting a drug and steroid prevention workshop on Monday April 07, 2008 @ 6:00 PM in the Compton College Student Lounge. Everyone is invited to attend and participate. Darrell Jackson, Former Major League Player will be the guest speaker. Don’t miss out. Refreshments will be served.
 
?The Spring Instruction will start Tuesday April 15, 2008 for boys and Wednesday April 16, 2008 for girls. Signs up will be accepted until April 13, 2008.
 
?Parents, if your son or daughter is one our oldies coming back for the Spring Session 2008, can you please let me know ASAP. You can call or email me. Thank you.
 
?ID Cards for new comers and those kids from our previous Sessions who did not get a chance to get their ID cards can get one at the front office on Thursdays and Fridays from 12PM-5:30PM. If you cannot make it at those times, please call or email me to make an appt for another time during the week. M-W from 9AM-5:30PM. The cost of ID card is $15.00. Our Instructional programs are free of charge.

Announcement–Spring Instruction 2008

Good Afternoon Everyone!!

Don’t forget, we start making the Academy ID Cards for all the new participants and the oldies who have not received one tomorrow.

All UYA ID CARDS will be made on Thursdays and Fridays from 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM starting Thursdays March 27, 2008.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
 
RE: Spring Instructional 2008
 
The dates for the start of the Instructional have been changed!! Please take note Instead of starting the Instruction on April 01, 2008, we are going to start on April 15, 2008 and End on June 10, 2008.
The days and times have NOT changed though.

Urban Invitational–Sunday Results–March 02, 2008

Southern vs Bethune-Cookman
 
Things got started Sunday afternoon when Bethune-Cookman University bounced back from a tough loss to UCLA the night before with a big 10-4 win over Southern University in the meeting of the two HBCU teams. Big rallies in the fourth and seventh innings helped the Wildcats put Southern away. Here is a picture of the team:

We had a lot of fun this weekend. We are all tired, but the Urban Invitational turned out extremely well. The UYA Staff worked very hard to make this happen.

UCLA Results: UCLA baseball team defeated Bethune-Cookman, 2-0, in an Urban Invitational game played at Major League Baseball’s Urban Youth Academy on Saturday evening. *Battle of the Bands – Southern’s “Human Jukebox” and USC Trojan Marching Band USC Trojan Marching Band Southern’s “Human Jukebox” Game Two: Saturday, March 1, Southern vs. USC, 8PM at MLB Urban Youth Academy Results: The USC Trojans scored eight times in the eighth inning Saturday to defeat the Southern Jaguars, 13-9, in action at the MLB Urban Invitational
